【明報專訊】常常聽別人說要「杜」牙根，其實是指「根管治療」。接受此治療是因為患上牙髓病或根尖炎，若屬急性的話，會引致嚴重的牙痛。牙髓病的成因包括﹕


◆ 嚴重蛀牙，細菌入侵牙髓；
◆ 牙齒耗損，表面組織流失，細菌乘虛而入；
◆ 嚴重牙周病；
◆ 牙齒受創傷後，牙髓暴露或死亡，細菌繼而入侵牙髓。


不想有此病，便要避免及盡早預防上述病因。
急性牙髓病患者會感劇痛，進食冷熱酸甜食物時更甚。另外，發炎或會擴散至牙周組織，令面部腫痛。當病情紓緩及轉為慢性後，其嚴重程度便不易察覺，只在X光片上呈現出來。


修補物脫落立即求醫
「杜」牙根是把受感染或壞死的牙髓組織清除，再用補牙物料把根管填封，防止牙髓感染問題蔓延至牙齒內所有根管和牙槽骨，以保存牙齒。
牙醫首先在牙冠上開洞，然後把牙髓除去，清潔牙齒內所有管道，再視乎情况放進不同的藥物。最後把根管及髓腔填封及覆蓋牙洞，過程可能需來回診所2至3次。為保護牙齒，大多需要鑲配牙套。


完成治療後，盡量不要用剛修補的牙齒咀嚼硬物，免填補物料脫落。若出現此情况，需立即見牙醫，不然，口腔內的細菌或會滲入根管中，再次造成感染。若治療期間太疼痛，牙齦或臉部腫脹，又或發燒，應立即覆診。


根管治療及鑲牙套或修復後，牙齒一般沒大感覺，治療一般可維持數年至十數年，但謹記定期檢查治療後及其他牙齒情况。
